More than a quarter of Muslim members and supporters of the Labour Party have experienced Islamophobia within the ranks of the party, a report from the Labour Muslim Network (LMN) claims. With some members or supporters being referred to as “terrorists” or “foreigners”, others have been accused of plotting to “takeover” the party. Some have even been subjected to stereotypes about “grooming gangs”.
After a hijab and face veil ban, Austria’s right wing government is set to introduce draconian measures against expressions of “political Islam.” Austria’s right-wing Chancellor Sebastian Kurz has announced a raft of new measures which would make “political Islam” a criminal offence.
The term Islamophobia can be decoded as the racism, discrimination, hatred, prejudice, bigotry and fear against Islam and its followers, Muslims. Anti-Muslim sentiments are increasing rapidly as the leaders of the countries especially in the west are using it as a tool for their own political objectives.
